Multiplying Signed Numbers
Did you know that multiplication is just repeated addition? When you say 2x4, it's the same as saying:
Let's take a look at how multiplying signed numbers works. What if you wanted to multiply 2 times negative 4. Well in the same way as in the above example, 2x(-4) is the same as
(-4)+(-4) = -8
So you can see that when you multiply a positive and a negative number, you get a negative answer.
